This isnt new to square-enix: in fact the first ports for pc of ff7 and ff8 were repaired by fans. so now they had to spend twice rather than only once to try to make profit from an old game people still like. If you think like square-enix, and try to get away with a mediocre port, of course you will go for the mobile because you will think "its less expensive" and "people wont care and still buy it". If you owned multiple versions of a game and you can make a proper port using the original code, and a second-hand adaptation made by a third party for mobile, which one you would have used first? If you've spent even five minutes on the discussion boards for either game, there's tons of questions as to which is better. The original FF ports were of the mobile/DS versions of the game. it was almost as bad as the port they recently made for pc.Īlso why do you think the original ports of final fantasy games were rejected here in steam, until the recent "pixelated" versions were offered? quality matters in ports: it affects gameplay. which one do you think should run faster and smoother? you would be wrong if you think the ps1 version, even if the machine had better technology, the port was mediocre, and the only few people got it was because of the cutscenes and small extras added.

or play the ps1 version of chrono trigger in a ps1, and then play the original in a snes.

Ie the android version of dragon quest 8: go and play it, and compare it to the original version. a bad port is one that is rushed, and not optimised to worked properly in a different machine. (Although I question how you've already decided this port is mediocre given that it's not released yet.)

If you don't want to play them again because they're "mediocre," don't. Originally posted by MenjoBleeko:Let ports be what ports are.
